Revenge Sunday
Sunday can be a hard day for many. Monday’s coming and a new week will roll out.
When an ADHD brain faces “Revenge Sunday,” it’s often battling a dopamine deficit that makes it hard to transition from unstructured weekend freedom to the demands of the upcoming week. The prefrontal cortex, responsible for planning and regulation, struggles under low stimulation, leading to procrastination, dread, or shutdown. Meanwhile, the limbic system may heighten emotional responses, amplifying anxiety, irritability, or avoidance. The brain seeks quick dopamine fixes like binge-watching, snacking, or scrolling to soothe discomfort, even when those actions increase long-term stress. This internal tug-of-war drains mental energy, making it harder to prepare for Monday and reinforcing the cycle week after week.
It being Super Bowl Sunday you may be enjoying some fun with family and friends. Perhaps something else on this list will help you combat revenge Sunday if it happens to you.
Live the day. It’s the day you get this day.
