For example:
Your strength is observation. You notice a book misplaced on the shelf. You place it back where it can be found for the person who may be looking for it.
Your strength is problem-solving. You want to hang a picture but you don’t have a hammer. You look in the kitchen and find the meat mallet. You use your creative mind to come up with a solution and choose not to settle for can’t. You repurpose and You Can!
Your strength is trouble-shooter. You take a broken appliance apart to find a loose belt. Instead of throwing the entire vacuum away, you order a new part.
Your strength is recall. You see someone and you know their name. Say, “Hi, JoAnne. It’s nice to see you today.”
Your strength is messaging. You have the ability to know just what to say when someone needs encouragement.
You may notice you have qualities you don’t like. That is perfectly okay. Place them aside. Ignore them by shining light and effort on the qualities and strengths you want to grow stronger. You do you- Better!
If you lift yourself up you are not beating yourself down. What you tell yourself is in your power to change. You can value who you are by harnessing your strengths. Choose to empower yourself with your strengths. If you are struggling to notice what strengths you behold ask a family member or trusted friend. Or take the free VIA Character Strengths Survey. You have strengths whether you believe in yourself or not. Choose strength over weakness and you will step in a renewed direction.
