Yes, it’s a deep question. Thanks for understanding. It’s a coaching habit. 😉
Has your vision for your greatness become a someday I will be___ thing? Have you lost connection to your desires, aspirations or hit roadblocks that keep your greatness out of reach?
What does it even mean to be great? For many of my clients who have ADHD they come to coaching far from feeling greatness. Most often they’ve adopted the lie that they are not wired to be great.
Hogwash!
People come to me wanting to get a handle on their lives. They don’t want to live in struggle anymore. They want to find ways to thrive. Coaching isn’t surface-level work. We quickly pull the threads to untangle old beliefs and tripped-up habits to form an owner’s manual to do you your way. When we add in ADHD, it gets even more fun. We get to play with the interest-based brain.
It’s common to want to be the best at what you do. Think of the GOATs out there. The ones that are labeled Greatest Of All Times. What if you had a vision of what it means to be your version of great?
This Halloween, I will not be handing out any tricks. Even better, what I have is sugar-free, so it won’t send you to the dentist or give you a stomach ache if you are anything like me and one is just not going to cut it.. I am offering a list of thought provokers to help you treat yourself to new awarenesses that will bring your vision of greatness to life.
1. What does greatness mean to you?
2. When you picture your best self, what do you see?
– Describe the characteristics, accomplishments, and lifestyle of that version of you.
3. What specific achievements or milestones would signify greatness in your life?
– Are there any personal or professional goals that stand out?
4. Who inspires you and why?
– What qualities or achievements of theirs resonate with your vision of greatness?
5. What values are most important to you, and how do they align with your vision of greatness?
– How can you incorporate these values into your journey?
6. What does your ideal day look like in this vision of greatness?
– From morning routines to evening reflections, what activities fill your day?
7. What skills or knowledge do you need to develop to reach your vision of greatness?
– How can you start acquiring them?
8. What challenges or obstacles do you foresee in this journey?
– How might you overcome them? What ADHD symptoms are creating roadblocks for you?
9. In what ways do you currently embody your vision of greatness?
– Recognizing your strengths can help build confidence. These may even be enhanced by your ADHD brain wiring.
10. If you could have one conversation with your future self, what would you want to ask?
11. What impact do you want to have on others as you pursue your greatness?
– How will your journey inspire or support those around you?
12. What mini steps can you take to move closer to your vision of greatness?
– Identify SMART (SPECIFIC, MEASURABLE, ATTAINABLE, REALISTIC, TIME BOUND) actionable steps that feel manageable.
The coaching process helps spin the web to find you safely in the center living your life your way. Thought-provokers like these may help you access your deeper why. How will you capture these thoughts. Some like to write them down, type them out, voice-memo them. When you externalize your thoughts they are more likely to come into being.
Today marks the final day of ADHD Empowerment/ Awareness Month. I hope that the month of October raised awareness and helped to create an environment where neuro differences can be freed of the stigmas they carry. I want people to step into their greatness and be supported in ways that allow their strengths to shine.
I wish you a safe and happy Halloween, carrying ADHD greatness into each day forward.
